We're already thinking about Spring and Summer 2017 here at Mindful Future. The winter will soon be over and we have launched our spring campaign for the Introduction to Mindfulness course which starts in March in Haverfordwest. As well as that we have two courses running consecutively at the moment, on Saturdays in Haverfordwest and Monday nights at Pembrokeshire College.
The nature of running a business means that we are always thinking about and planning for the future. This can sometimes seem to be at odds with the essence of Mindfulness, which is about paying attention to the present moment. It's easy to get caught up in exciting plans for the future, and just as easy to get caught up in worries about future events.
3 Minute Breathing Space
When I notice that I am being distracted by anxious or excited thoughts about the future, I find it useful to pause and become aware of the present moment. A good exercise to help with this is the 3 Minute Breathing Space. Mindfulness author Danny Penman has a description of this exercise here http://franticworld.com/the-three-minute-breathing-space-meditation-is-now-free-to-download/ and there is a link to download an audio file. It's a great exercise to learn that can be used in times of pressure and anxiety, or just to have a mindful pause during a busy day and best of all, it's free and easy to learn.
