Now seems like a good point to stop and take a breather. Mindful Future started as a tiny idea in my mind back in February this year and hit the ground running full force. There hasn't been much time for reflection so now we are taking the opportunity to look back on where we started and the progress we have made.
The original idea was born out of my own experience of how mindfulness practice has changed my perspective on life and a wish to share it with others to see whether it could help them. At the same time, I wanted to do a project with my son Barney, because I knew we could work together to produce something special.
After several delicious Monday morning breakfast meetings at the Coffee Cave in Haverfordwest we had a vision for what we wanted to achieve and with the help of Vanessa from Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services, we set up Mindful Future, a Community Interest Company and incorporated it with Companies House. Number One Son Ashley provided his amazing graphic design skills free of charge to produce our logo and Barney set up and still runs our fab website.
A generous bursary from Breathworks CIC enabled me to attend the Mindfulness Teacher Training retreat in June at their beautiful Buddhist centre, Taraloka near Whitchurch. This involved lots of delivering and receiving of mindfulness meditation practice and long periods of silence, which those who know me will understand was very challenging! My experience during this week really motivated me and reassured me that I was following the right path.
In July, we set up our stall at The Haverfordwest Festival, with our banner and marketing materials provided by Barbara from Right Price Printers in Goodwick. This was the first of several festivals we attended over the summer, including The Edge festival in Solva and most memorably, The Big Cwtch in Crugybar. This was memorable for a number of reasons, not only the truly biblical weather on Friday, but also the lovely people who came to our mindfulness sessions and said such lovely things about us. It also provided us with an opportunity to spend the day with the lovely Claire from Holistic Heaven, who runs amazing Yoga sessions and retreats in the local area.
On top of all this activity, we have also been providing Mindfulness sessions for managers at Elliots Hill and making links with lots of other local businesses with exciting prospects for the future. Our weekly blog is going from strength to strength and we have lots of plans for further developments of the website.
Our latest exciting development is the launch of our audio downloads for people who sign up to our mailing list. We have uploaded a Body Scan meditation and there are lots more to come.
It's been a really successful and busy year so far. Much love to everyone who has been so supportive, we couldn't have done it without you.
